Using Twitter and Facebook, Dr. Ben Carson is hinting that he could be named as President-elect Donald Trump's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Last week Carson indicated that he was not going to serve in Trump's administration. "My decision not to seek a cabinet position in the Trump administration has nothing to do with the complexity of the job," Carson posted to Facebook at the time. "[I]t is vitally important for the Trump administration to have many outspoken friends and advisers who are outside of the Washington bubble."
Today's Facebook post is a stark change from what Carson was saying previously.
An announcement is forthcoming about my role in helping to make America great again. https://t.co/jGRyzFRBAK
— Ben & Candy Carson (@RealBenCarson) November 23, 2016
The Trump campaign told reporters earlier to expect an announcement later today.
Former rival stumped for Trump
If Carson accepts the cabinet level position he will be the first black person appointed to Trump's administration.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development's mission according to their website, "is to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all."
After dropping out the GOP primary Carson endorsed Trump and frequently stumped and made television appearances supporting Trump.
