An offensively decorated birthday cake caused quite a stir at the Louisiana State Capitol

A bikini-shaped birthday cake prompted one Louisiana senator to accuse her colleagues of misogyny.

Louisiana state Sen. Karen Carter Peterson walked into a break room at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge Friday morning to find a bikini-shaped cake for state Rep. Mark Abraham's birthday.

A sign attached to the cake's box read: "Happy Birthday Mark Abraham. He likes his cake and eats it too!!!!"

Two of Peterson's male colleagues said this is all just a misunderstanding.

But that's not the way Peterson sees it. In an interview with Mashable, Patterson said she immediately noticed the cake, which had a purple unicorn tattoo above the panty line and candles coming out of the breasts.

“The Louisiana State Capitol is not a locker room,” Peterson said in an interview with The Advocate. “If they choose to celebrate a birthday that way, then they should have done that off-site in another setting.”

Abraham said although he didn't find the cake offensive, he said he would have removed the cake if someone had told him that they found the cake disrespectful.

“I would never want to do anything that is offensive to this body or anyone else for that matter,” Abraham told The Advocate.

He, however, said Peterson yelled a profanity at him after finding the cake.
