A cop is on leave after video showing him hitting a woman in the face surfaces

An officer in Arizona is being investigated after a video which shows him striking a woman in the face during an arrest surfaced online, Flagstaff, Arizona, police say.

The incident unfolded Wednesday as police arrested what they call a "somewhat uncooperative" woman.

The video, which appears to have been shot on a cell phone, shows the woman struggling with two officers before suffering a blow to the face from one of them.

The video was posted on Facebook and appears to show one of the officers striking a woman.

What the police say

Flagstaff police said in a news release that the officer in the video, Jeff Bonar, has been placed on leave pending the probe.

"Our agency is very concerned by what is depicted in this video," police said.

What her boyfriend says

Jimmy Sedillo told KPHO-TV that authorities were at his residence serving an eviction notice.

Sedillo and his girlfriend, Marissa Morris, were moving their belongings across the street when an officer tried to arrest Morris on a warrant.

She refused to go, and "he literally tackled her in front of my mom's house," Sedillo says.

Morris was arrested for assaulting an officer.
