WATCH| Amateur Overwatch players now have the opportunity to make their hobby a career, complete with a full salary and benefits.

The announcement for the new Overwatch League was made on November 4th, during Blizzard Entertainment's biggest event of the year, BlizzCon 2016, in Anaheim, California. The first-person shooter, just released in May, has seen tremendous success, with professional teams already participating in tournaments across the nation, including the official Overwatch World Cup.

Blizzard aims to provide stability to investors and players alike, as well as generate a more integrated fan-base worldwide.

The company received plenty of attention and support on Twitter.

Fans and players around the globe reacted excitedly to the announcement.

Overwatch League: The Path to Glory

The League is due to launch in 2017, with a pre-season drafting event to recruit the top players in the world.
