Gov. Andrew Cuomo posted this on Facebook on Saturday.
It quickly took off on social media, with more than 40,000 shares by about noon on Sunday.
In the post, he claims "As New Yorkers, we have fundamentally different philosophies than what Donald Trump laid out in his campaign" and says New York will be a refuge if "anyone feels that they are under attack."
Hillary Clinton won New York, which Cuomo also celebrated.
Cuomo has condemned reports of racially charged crimes in the wake of Trump's victory.
In one instance, a softball dugout was defaced with "Make America White Again."
He was widely praised for his comments, even by celebrities like Mark Ruffalo.
However, Bernie Sanders supporters accused him of interfering in the DNC primary.
