Watch| It’s called the Hyperloop, an ambitious project from the well-known group called SpaceX. It uses magnets to propel a cylinder full of individual rooms through a tube at high rates of speed.
Travels at 700 miles per hour
It promises to deliver passengers to far off destinations at speeds of 700 mph, all from the comfort of a luxury cabin and soon giant tubes full of magnets could line a vast countryside.
The project is currently being tested in the desert in North Las Vegas and parts are being built in a manufacturing plant in the city and we are getting the first look inside.
Hyperloop One is currently outlining plans with the Dubai Roads and Transportation Authority to build a 100-mile track from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. That trip would take just 12 minutes.
Futuristic Commute could happen in 2020
The date on the video seems to predict that this futuristic commute could happen in 2020. In a video released from the company a man books his trip through a mobile app, files into a “meeting pod” which consists of six seats and a table, and then casually reads his newspaper while an airplane struggles to keep up.
Here is Hyperloop's vision for the project.
