A pregnant woman poured boiling-hot water on her football-player boyfriend


Mary Gaspar, the pregnant girlfriend of Florida International tight end Jonnu Smith, poured boiling water on her boyfriend after a day-long argument, reports CBS News

Gaspar was upset with Smith for not paying enough attention to her and she was, “feeling extremely emotional and stressed.” 

Smith was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center and is now out for the rest of the season. 

Gapsar is being charged with aggravated battery and is on pre-trial release.

According to the arrest report, Smith did not show a reaction when Gaspar poured the water onto him, and so she began hitting him with her open hands. 

Smith suffered burns on his head, neck, back, shoulder and arm. 

Smith is a prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft. 

Some on social media are upset at the act of domestic violence. 

Gaspar could also face significant jailtime for her actions.
