Early morning exit polls show a majority of voters are ready for this election to be over

WATCH  | Most voters are absolutely done with this year's election, but they still hope a "strong leader" will win.

The first election results are just hours away and voters have already been weighing in.

An early morning poll shows how Americans are feeling about the election.

Are we done yet?

POLITICO and nonpartisan research company Morning Consult on Tuesday reported early exit poll findings that reveal how voters are feeling about this year's election.

A whopping 85% of voters polled said they just want the election to be over. Very few voters are feeling joy and pride at the climax of the campaign, according to poll results.

People are using social media to share how they really feel about Election 2016.

"Omg I'm so excited for the season finale of America," one user tweeted.

Voters want a 'strong leader'

The survey also shows voters are twice as likely to say they want a president who is a “strong leader” than in 2012, according to Morning Consult/POLITICO exit data.

Twenty-nine percent of voters want "a vision for the future," 16 percent want someone who "cares about people like me" and another 16 percent said they want someone who shares their values.

The Morning Consult and POLITICO will release voter surveys throughout the day.
