A Georgia deputy was killed in a dispute between neighbors

A dispute between neighbors Sunday led to a shooting that left one deputy dead and another wounded in Peach County, Georgia, according to The Macon Telegraph

Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks said Deputy Patrick Sondron, 41, died at 6:40 p.m.

“He was a very good person,” Rooks told The Macon Telegraph. “He was just a great deputy. He did his job well and was always willing to help.”

Ricketson told The Macon Telegraph that the sheriff's office contacted him around 6 p.m. asking for assistance with a "dispute between neighbors."

When deputies arrived they were under gunfire, according to Ricketson.

He added that a suspect in the case was taken to the hospital, but he did not say whether the suspect had been shot.

Authorities said the scene, which is located on Hardison Road at Ga. 42, has been secured.

This is an ongoing investigation.
