WATCH | Nestled in an unassuming neighborhood in Chiang Mai, Thailand, there is a garden that many might call...unusual. Perhaps, even sexy.
Chiang Mai Erotic Garden has to be seen to be believed.
The garden is the brainchild of owner Katai Kamminga, an energetic Thai woman with a deep appreciation for eroticism in nature. She says she noticed the erotic in nature as a child, but never knew how to express it. Hence - this garden.
Katai says she wants this garden to serve as a safe space for people of all ages and backgrounds to explore eroticism not only in nature, but in themselves. (And, why yes, that is indeed a bum in the air, and bum-inspired hills)
I just show you what's in my head -- you fill in the rest.
She also believes that many people see the eroticism in nature that she sees, but didn't have the chance to express it, or know it's ok to express it. But she stresses - visitors make their own experiences in the garden. Everyone comes from different backgrounds, beliefs, and life experiences, which in turn shape what each person takes away from the garden.
Of all the statues in the garden, Katai's favorite is what she calls her dream statue. It earned that name only after the police paid a visit. After that day, this statue became her symbol for not being afraid to dream - even crazy things.
