Penn State University is being hit with a $2.4 million fine for breaking a law that requires universities to report campus crimes and warn people if their safety is in danger.
The fine was announced on Thursday. It was the result of a five-year federal investigation into how Penn State officials handled complaints about ex-assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
Sandusky was charged in 20111 with child molestation.
