FILE - In this July 24, 2013 file photo, former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner leaves his apartment building in New York. The FBI informed Congress on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, it is investigating whether there is classified information in new emails that have emerged in its probe of Hillary Clinton's private server. A U.S. official told The Associated Press the newly discovered emails emerged through the FBI’s separate sexting probe of former congressman Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of close Clinton confidant Huma Abedin. Anthony Weiner reportedly checked himself into a sex addiction clinic

Former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner checked into a rehab facility for sex addiction, according to the New York Daily News.

The name or the location of the facility has yet to be released, but Weiner is participating in a program that includes counseling for those addicted to cyber sex and exhibitionism.

What did he do?

The 51-year-old congressman sent photos of himself shirtless to a 15-year-old girl, commented on her body in online conversations, and talked about sex acts with her.

His relationship with the girl began in January. Reportedly, the two stopped talking in April, but they kept in touch until July.

Weiner's wife Huma Abedin announced that she was separating from him in August.

The announcement has, of course, been met with jokes online.

Not all are happy that so much is being made of the former congressman's misdeeds.
