A Madera, Calif. police officer and a civilian ride-along were not hurt when a person opened fire on them from the window during a chase.

It got tense.

Police said the officer tried to pull over an SUV, but the driver kept going and later shot at the officer, "narrowly missing" the driver and passenger.

Police were able to disable the SUV, ending the chase. It's not clear what charges the driver will face.

This was the officer's second week on the job as a solo officer, our partners at KMPH report.
