A chemical plume from a sewage plant in Kansas injured 102 people

A chemical fog rolled into Atchinson, Kansas. Friday morning, prompting a frenetic response from the local community, reports News Press Now

The chemical cloud is said to have originated at the communities sewage facility.

At least 102 people have been treated for medical conditions relating to the chemical cloud, authorities report.

The all-clear was given around 11 a.m. Friday morning.

The fog-like cloud was extremely thick.

We have had tremendous response from both the company, from county officials, from our people.

"Two chemicals were inadvertently mixed on top of each other. That caused a gas plume to develop over parts of the city," said City Manager Trey Cocking.

And of course, many online managed to find a funny side to the situation.
