Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, The J. Geils Band, Jane's Addiction, Janet Jackson, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, Journey, Kraftwerk, MC5, Pearl Jam, Steppenwolf, The Cars, The Zombies, Tupac Shakur and Yes are all in the running.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will announce its new inductees Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Members of the Hall are decided by votes from musicians, historians and industry professionals. There's also a fan vote, in which the top five artists from the fan poll combine for one ballot.
Last year's class included N.W.A., Chicago and Steve Miller. Bands and artists become eligible 25 years after their first album was released.
Who's likely to make the cut?
Pearl Jam is a "heavy favorite," according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Paul Weller, Tori Amos (pictured) and The Cranberries also recently became eligible, Diffuser reports.
And while he's not exactly a rock artist, Tupac Shakur is also eligible. (Hey, if N.W.A. made it, then surely Tupac can!)
There are still plenty of artists and bands who didn't make it on the first try, including Nine Inch Nails, Janet Jackson (pictured), Sting, Yes and The Smiths.
