A detective who was investigating Derrick Rose was found dead of a gunshot wound

A detective investigating rape allegations against former Chicago Bulls' star Derrick Rose was found dead of a gunshot wound on Tuesday, reports the Chicago Sun Times

Nadine Hernandez, 44, was a detective in the Los Angeles County Homicide Division Special Assault Section. She was frequently assigned to high-profile cases involving sex crimes.

Many have taken to Twitter to send condolences to Hernandez's family.

Police received a call describing an attempted suicide at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hernandez was taken to the hospital where she died.

On Tuesday, police said it's unclear if the gunshot wound was due to suicide or homicide.

However, as the investigation progresses, it appears police are moving away from homicide.

Rose, who now plays for the New York Knicks, is involved in a civil suit accusing him of participating in the gang-rape of a woman

Rose and other men have provided conflicting stories about the events of the night during which the supposed assault took place.
