FILE - In this Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, file photo, United States' Ryan Lochte checks his time in a men's 4x200-meter freestyle heat during the swimming competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Add two fresh entries to the increasingly popular genre of non-apology apologies. In a span of 15 hours, politician Donald Trump and Lochte both coughed up carefully crafted words of contrition, each without fully owning up to exactly what he’d done wrong. Ryan Lochte got engaged to former Playboy model Kayla Rae Reid

Ryan Lochte got engaged to former Playboy model Kayla Rae Reid over the weekend.

The Olympic swimmer popped the big question Sunday, according to a post on his Instagram page, which shows the couple sharing a kiss on a hilltop in Los Angeles.

"Memories forever!!! #thelochtes #LA," he wrote in the caption of the photo.

Reid also posted a photo of the same moment with a different angle to Instagram.

She captioned the photo, "Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU."

Lochte hinted that he would be proposing to Reid in a recent interview with USA Today.

Lochte told USA Today that he realized that Reid was "the one" when she stuck with him through the Summer Olympics controversy.

Lochte admittingly "overexaggerated" aspects of the gas station incident that took place during the games.

He and other swimmers were suspended for 10 months by the United States Olympic Committee and USA Swimming.

"From the very first time I met her, everything has like clicked,'' Lochte told USA Today. "That's why I know I can propose to her because everything that's happened and she's been keeping me so positive. She doesn't care about my fame. She doesn't care about anything.

All she cares about is me being happy.
