Signing bonuses are nothing new. But Axon in Seattle is taking it a step further, offering new hires a Tesla Model 3. That car isn't even out yet.

KOMO, our partner in Seattle, got an inside look at Axon, which makes software for body cameras.

We are looking at creative new ideas that will sort of raise the visibility of us and what we do.
Marcus Womack, Axon general manager

As Seattle's tech industry continues to explode, new employers have to find a way to stand out, especially when their name isn't Amazon, Microsoft, Google or Boeing, who are all in the area.

Offering a $35,000 car as a signing bonus is one way to get attention.

Ideas like that seem to be working. Axon started with just three people three years ago. It now has 100 employees and will double its size in the next 18 months.

While the equivalent of a $35,000 signing bonus may sound pricey, Axon said it can pay a professional recruiter about the same price to find a new employee. And to ensure the car, the new hire has to stick around for two years, KOMO reports.

Would a new Tesla get you to take a new job?
