The US Men's national soccer squad is about to play an historic game in Cuba

This is just the third time ever that the U.S. men's national team has gone to Cuba to play a match.

The teams played a competitive game in 2008 and (in their first meeting) a friendly match in 1947.

The United States is going into this friendly match against Cuba with a 9-1-1 record. The only time the men's national team has lost against Cuba was that first friendly match in 1947.

This is the first time that the U.S. team and the Cuban team have played since the two countries restored diplomatic ties.

The team left at 1 a.m. so their flight wouldn't get delayed by Hurricane Matthew.

The last match in Cuba was in 2008. The U.S. won.

The team had some time to explore Havana and interact with Cubans after they landed.

Kick off for the historic match is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday
