Billy Bush is not having a good day.
The former "Access Hollywood" reporter and "Today Show" co-host was caught up in a social media nightmare after The Washington Post released footage today of him and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump engaging in a sexually graphic conversation about women.
"Obviously I'm embarrassed and ashamed. It's no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I'm very sorry," Bush said in a statement to Variety.
Unfortunately, Bush might have to do more than that if he's to have any hope of restoring his reputation.
The Trump/Billy Bush tape isn't "locker room banter." It's misogyny that results in sexual assault/rape.— Ferenc G. Koszorus (@fgkoszorus) October 7, 2016
Social media is roasting Bush.
“Grab them by the p---y,” Trump says. “You can do anything.” And Billy Bush is like, OK! -This is rape culture. This is what we hear & live— kelly oxford (@kellyoxford) October 7, 2016
Many Twitter users are accusing Bush of contributing to rape culture.
BTW collateral damage here: not that I took Billy Bush seriously before, but how does NBC News now rationalize employing him?— Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) October 7, 2016
Even television personalities are getting in on the act.
Others have called Bush out for using his age as a potential excuse for his participation.
