WATCH  | Kat Connor and Lindzi Shanks are changing the marshmallow game, one boozy-flavored sweet treat at a time. The masterminds behind Chicago-based XO Marshmallow offer a range of boozy and quirky flavors from champagne to mango habanero. 

I thought, 'Why don't we turn this from a hobby into a full-blown business?'

The duo got into the confectionary business after Kat made champagne-flavored marshmallows to sell at a pop-up shop for The Trendy Sparrow, Lindzi's online boutique. 

A year and a lot of experimentation later, they now have 13 different flavors.

So how do they get a marshmallow to taste like champagne or bourbon? By using actual booze, of course. 

The marshmallows won't get you drunk because the alcohol is burned while making them.

Kat and Lindzi encourage their marshmallows be used in more than just s'mores and hot chocolate. Luckily they have an entire page on their website dedicated to recipes.
