The GOP accidentally published a 'Mike Pence won the debate' post before the thing started

Well, this is awkward.

The consensus was clear after the dust settled, Mike Pence was the clear winner of the debate.

In a now-deleted post, the Republican National Committee accidentally published its pre-written article declaring that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence "was the clear winner."

If you're wondering, Pence's "top moments" from the debate included the "economy" and "highlighting Hillary's scandals."

The post was deleted, but not before Twitter could jump on it.

The Hillary Clinton campaign made its own mistake shortly after the debate. The official post debate statement's headline read, "Reporters Note How Trump Refused to Defend Trump Except to Lie," according to the Washington Examiner.

Presumably, the first "Trump" in that headline should read "Pence."

At 9 p.m. ET, Pence and Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine will take the stage at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, for their first and only debate.
