The police department in El Cajon, California, has released two videos to reporters which show an unarmed black man named Alfred Olango backing away from a police officer in the parking lot of a taco restaurant before being shot four times.
El Cajon Police Chief Jeff Davis claimed that the videos were being released for the good of the community due to the spread of misinformation concerning the incident.
WARNING: The contents of the video might be extremely upsetting.
One video shows Olango backing away from the police officer and then moving sideways before the video ends.
The second video is 20 seconds long and shows Olango backing away before four gunshots can be heard.
El Cajon police responded to a call about man acting erratically in the parking lot of a fast-food taco restaurant. Officer Richard Gonzalez shot Olango while another officer stunned him using a taser.
A woman who was filmed on social media identified herself as Olango's sister. She claimed that her brother was mentally challenged and that she called emergency responders for help.
On Wednesday, the police released a statement saying that Olango had pointed a vape device at them before he was stunned and shot.
