A Pennsylvania mayor is being asked to resign after sharing racist memes on Facebook

Town officials in West York, Pennsylvania, are calling for Mayor Charles Wasko to resign this week after racist Facebook photos from the last year surfaced, reports CNN.

Wasko posted a photo of a monkey saying that it was first lady Michelle Obama. He also posted a photo of a wagon of orangutans, saying that it was moving day at the White House.

Wasko also posted photos calling for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to be locked up, calling for President Obama's suicide, and accusing Obama of being the founder of ISIS.

When a reporter from the York Daily Record called to ask about photos on Thursday, the mayor described the response to his posts as "bulls***" and hung up.

Above, one of the photos posted on Wasko's Facebook page.

West York Council President Shawn Mauck told CNN that Wasko's "actions have been absolutely deplorable."

Here's another post on Wasko's Facebook page -- these and other posts have since been taken down.

Mauck said the council will address the photos in its session on Monday by voting to censure the Mayor. He also mentioned that many town officials and friends have phoned Wasko and asked him to resign.
