A college student taunted BLM protestors by wearing a gorilla mask and passing out bananas

A student at East Tennessee State University was arrested by campus police earlier this week after taunting Black Lives Matter protestors by wearing a gorilla mask, carrying a burlap sack emblazoned with a confederate flag, and offering them bananas, reported WCYB.

Tristan Rettke was charged with civil rights intimidation.

BLM protestors on campus were demonstrating against the recent shootings of black men by police officers around the country.

East Tennessee State University student Grant Madison live-streamed Rettke's actions.

Rettke's actions were widely condemned on social media.

Widely. Condemned.

Students gathered on campus later in the week to discuss the incident and address any lingering concerns their peers may have.

Many who were protesting that day say they have forgiven Rettke and would like to speak with him about his motivations.
