The shooter's father was found dead of a gunshot wound. Jeffrey Osborne, 47, was found in a house that was 2 miles from the school.
The suspect never actually entered the school. Instead, he fired on his victims at the school's playground. An unarmed firefighter tackled the suspect and held him until the authorities arrived.
The motivation behind the crime is still unknown. Authorities have ruled out terrorism and racism.
One of the children and the teacher have been released from the hospital.
At least three people were shot and injured at an elementary school in Townville, South Carolina, reports CNN.
A teacher and two students were wounded, according to the Associated Press. At least one of the students had be airlifted from the school.
A spokeswoman for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said the teenage shooter has been apprehended and is now in custody.
