Pottermore.com, the "digital heart of the Wizarding World," launched a new quiz yesterday, helping Potterheads to uncover what their Patronus would be.
(Translating for muggles: A Patronus is a type of magical guardian that takes the form of an animal.)
As people shared their results, it wasn't long until rumors about a certain gorilla started to spread.
"Too soon"? Maybe.
I've been asked to make it clear that Harambe is not a Patronus you can actually get on @pottermore. The previous RT is a joke. As you were.— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) September 22, 2016
J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, dispelled the rumor.
I thought it was very funny, btw.— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) September 22, 2016
She's down with #Harambe.

Some celebrated their results. Others, not so much.
Pottermore patronous quiz threw me into an existential crisis.— LACROIX BOI (@winkytoes) September 23, 2016
How does this lead to an "existential crisis"? And why does everyone misspell Patronus?
I went on Pottermore to find out what my patronous was and it was a rat..a freaking rat 😑— Tayler Graver (@taylergraver) September 22, 2016
Rats are #actually sensitive, caring creatures.
😐 y'all out here with some majestic patronous results and I got a literal pig pic.twitter.com/HKSa1NoXWB— Liz Hebert 🌹 (@lizhebert_) September 23, 2016
Same for pigs, they're very nice in person. And delicious!
Can I go home early since my patronous isn't an otter like my girl Hermione or do I have to stay and pretend I even care about anything else— Katie (@k_rie1107) September 23, 2016
Yes, you do have to stay and pretend you care.
