George HW Bush plans to vote for Hillary Clinton [UPDATE -- 8:34 p.m.]
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy, said in a Facebook post Monday that President George H.W. Bush plans to vote for Hillary Clinton, according to the New York Times.
Jim McGrath, a spokesman for the former president, has neither confirmed or denied Townsend's claim.
Former President George H. W. Bush will vote for Hillary Clinton in November.
Politico reports Bush, a Republican who was also Ronald Reagan's vice president, had tried to his preferences secret. However, Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, daughter of Robert F. Kennedy, revealed his decision on Facebook on Monday night.
Her post was not made public, however, and Bush has not officially commented on the race.
He's still keeping it (officially) secret
Spokesman Jim McGrath said in an email: "The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days. He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim."
The Bush family has not commented on the race since Jeb Bush's bid for the Republican nomination fell short.
Neither George H. W. nor George W. Bush attended the Republican National Convention where Donald Trump accepted the nomination.
