Russia and the U.S. are feuding over the U.S.'s accidental bombing of Syrian forces

Just days after negotiating terms of a cease-fire in Syria with the U.S., Russia said the U.S.'s airstrikes that accidentally killed Syrian forces on Saturday cast a "very big question mark" over the continuation of the cease-fire.

The strikes were intended to hit an ISIS target, The Guardian reports. The airstrike killed at least 90  Syrian soldiers, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

In return, the U.S. has accused Russia of pulling a "stunt" at the United Nations over the incident.

And yet in the face of none of these atrocities has Russia expressed outrage, nor has it demanded investigations...

Russia called for an emergency closed-door security council meeting after the strike, which it called a result of the U.S.'s refusal to cooperate with Russia.

But U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power called this "uniquely cynical and hypocritical."

Russia and the U.S. are feuding over the U.S.'s accidental bombing of Syrian forces

Here's Power's outraged reply to Russia's condemnation of the strike.

The U.S. is investigating the strike.

Vitaly Churkin, Russian envoy to the U.N., called the incident an "extraordinary display of American heavy-handedness."

The airstrike on Saturday came two days before the two superpowers were supposed to start planning joint operations against ISIS and another terrorist group, Jabhat Fatah al-Sham. Russia has long sought to share information with the U.S. to collaborate on anti-terrorist strikes.

Should the US cooperate with Russia in the Middle East?
