The teacher with cancer who went viral after being serenaded by students has died

Remember the viral video of the high school teacher with cancer who was serenaded from his window by students?

The star of that video, Ben Ellis, who was a Latin and Bible studies teacher at Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, has died, according to the school's headmaster.

The viral video was posted earlier this month and has more than 30 million views.

Ellis had been battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments when 400 students showed up at his window to serenade him with "Holy Spirit You are Welcome Here."

The school's headmaster recalled some of Ellis' final words to his students before his death.

"He said, 'I love you. I believe now more than ever that God is good, and that He is with us. I am full of hope, peace and joy. I wish all this for you. Look to Jesus to know, to believe, and to be filled.'"

Tim McGraw, who posted the video, published this touching tribute to Ben Ellis.

Other people in the Nashville and abroad also took to social media to mourn Ellis.

The school has yet to make an announcement on the death of Ellis.
