"Today" show co-anchor Matt Lauer was roundly criticised for his moderating skills during Wednesday night's commander-in-chief forum with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, hosted by NBC News in New York.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were both invited to make their case for who would make the better commander-in-chief of the U.S. military.
Lauer proceeded to ask them both about national security, military affairs and veterans issues.

Matt Lauer was terrible last night. He should stick to scrambling eggs on TV and leave the moderating to prepared journalists.— Bill Press (@bpshow) September 8, 2016

Critics are accusing Lauer of being unfair, sloppy and even sexist.
Some are saying the famed morning anchor was too hard on Clinton.
And others are saying he wasn't hard enough on Trump.
At minimum, most are saying he simply wasn't the journalist for the job.
People are using the hashtag #Laueringthebar on Twitter to slam the morning show anchor.
