Florida Republican brings jar of mosquitoes to House floor


A Congressman brought a jar of mosquitoes with him on the House floor on Wednesday to encourage GOPs to approve funding to fight the Zika virus.

"I rise with about 100 mosquitoes straight from Florida," Florida representative David Jolly (R-FL) said, holding up a clear jar of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae from the University of South Florida.

In a tweet, he said he wanted to convey the fear & anxiety of millions of people.

Senate Democrats blocked Republicans' $1.1 billion Zika funding package Tuesday over concerns about the measure's restrictions on contraceptive funding for Planned Parenthood.
