This is either extremely lucky or a sign of incredible talent. Or both.
An Ohio State University organic chemistry professor made a bet with his class on Friday. If a student could toss a ball from a lecture hall balcony into a trash can, the whole class would get a 100 percent on its quiz.
Of course, that student, Vinny Forte of Richmond Heights, Ohio, nailed it. (The tweet above is wrong, per WJW.)
Dr. Christopher Callam said he's made the wager for the past ten years, and this is the second time someone has made the shot, but the first time it was captured on video, according to The Comeback.
The student who made it, Vinny, had his named chanted for several minutes after he made it. Not your normal day in Ochem.
There's an academic reason for these shenanigans. Callam said the ball and the epic toss represents proton donors and proton acceptors, a key concept in organic chemistry.
"I just randomly throw the ball up to the balcony and whoever grabs it is the 'proton acceptor'," Callam said.
Even ESPN acknowledged the shot's brilliance.
ALSO CAN U IMAGINE BEING AN EXCHANGE STUDENT AND GETTING A 100 ON YOUR OVHEM QUIZ BC SOME GUY MADE THE SHOT LIKE WOULDNT U BE SO CONFUSED— HE IS BLOND (@chenizard) September 3, 2016
We can only imagine how some in the class felt.
