The 2nd annual "Hang 20 Surf Dog Classic" was a big hit with residents from Jupiter, Florida, last weekend. Both the two-legged and four-legged kind. The event was put on by a local no-kill shelter, Furry Friends, and featured 25 surf dogs in action.
People have been coming from all over to train their dog and they've put in a lot of money. We're just all about dog safety and having fun!
Most of the pups weren't winging it out on the water, either. Their owners hired surf coaches to prepare them for the competition.
Dog surf instructor, Sam Chiet, told us that he's had a busy summer training the dogs for this event.
The heats were divided by weight classes and prizes were given out to each of the first, second and third-place winners.
The fundraiser also featured a dog agility show, food trucks, raffles and live music.
It was a great success and attracted 2,800 people.
Even the mayor of Jupiter came out and competed in the paddle board division.
