Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and Democratic U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy won their Florida primaries Tuesday, which means there will be a showdown in November as each party tries to gain a majority in the Senate.
Rubio faced off against businessman Carlos Beruff as Murphy defeated U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson.
According to CNN, Beruff spent $7 million of his own money campaigning against Rubio but was never able to catch up.
Grayson had difficulties winning over voters after reports that he abused his ex-wife.
After failing to secure the Republican presidential nomination, Rubio vowed not to run for Senate again. Despite his last-minute entry into the race in June, he still cleared what was previously a crowded GOP field.
Now, Murphy and Rubio will face off in November.
