A former FBI agent stole drug money to buy wife's plastic surgery and a tricked-out car

A former FBI agent was sentenced to 36 months in prison Monday after pleading guilty to stealing more than $136,000 in seized drug proceeds, according to a Department of Justice release.

Scott Bowman, 45, from Moreno Valley, Calif., admitted to spending the money on cosmetic surgery for his wife and rims, speakers and tires for his car.

He hid his shady dealings by lying about how much had actually been taken from drug search sites.

Bowman was found guilty May 2. He was charged with obstruction of justice, conversion of property by a federal employee, falsification of records and witness tampering. He was also ordered to repay $136,462.

In one incident, he gave a local police detective an elaborate cover story and a copy of the receipt so the detective could falsely claim a forged signature as his own.
