Guess you can save that trip to Mt. Rushmore if you live on the East Coast.
A Virginia native, Howard Hankins, obtained these 20 feet tall presidential statues, which are currently in Croaker, Virginia.
The statues honor the men who led our country during defining moments in American history.
Political junkies, rejoice.
The earlier ones are my favorites I would say. They came up with the ideas.
Hankins is currently restoring each statue to their original form and glory.
They were first erected in President's Park in 2004. However, the facility closed down in 2010 due to financial concerns. Hankins was then tasked with a difficult decision: Either dispose the 20,000 pound structures or find a way to revitalize them.
He chose the latter, securing them on trailer beds and bringing them to a 400 acre park nearby his home. Here is where Howard is putting the final touches and also thinking ahead for creating the 44th presidential statue for President Obama and the 45th president after November's election.
