A few Olympic athletes, including Micheal Phelps, were in the audience Sunday night during MTV's Video Music Awards when comedian Jimmy Fallon impersonated Ryan Lochte.
Fallon strolled onto stage in Team USA gear and silver hair, and started saying a bunch of things that aren't true.
"Is it too late now to say sorry? That's my jam. I wrote it. I wrote that song. I did, I wrote it. I produced it, I directed the vid-ja. I did, it happened! In fact, I directed all five nominees for video of the year. What an amazing year I've had, it's true," Fallon said.
Then, when it was time to name a winner, Fallon said he couldn't choose even if there was a gun to his head, referring to Lochte's false robbery report in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
Phelps, who has been teammates with Lochte for years, couldn't help but laugh at Lochte's expense.
Phelps told People magazine he has reached out to Lochte since the robbery scandal.
"Ryan and I have been teammates forever and it's always hard to see a friend and a competitor going through a hard time like this - I know what it feels like. I've been through it before," Phelps told People magazine.
"Hopefully, he can come out of this a better person."
