Southwest flight lands safely after emergency landing in Florida

A Southwest Airlines plane headed to Orlando, made an emergency landing Saturday due to a visibly major problem with one of its two engines.

The pilot diverted flight 3472 from New Orleans to Pensacola, Florida, after detecting something had gone wrong with one of the engines, according to a Southwest statement.

After the plane landed, it was taken to be serviced.

Michael Boyd, president of airline consulting firm Boyd International, said it's rare for Southwest or any other major airline to have such serious engine trouble.
