American University of Afghanistan in Kabul is under attack


I went to the window to see what was going on, and I saw a person in normal clothes outside. He shot at me and shattered the glass.

Explosions and gunfire rocked the American University of Afghanistan in the capital city of Kabul Wednesday night. 

The school has about 1,700 students. It's not clear who carried out the attack, which started around 7 p.m. local time.

As of 1:10 p.m. Eastern time, one person is dead and 14 are wounded, per The Telegraph.

You can see smoke rising from an area reportedly near the college.

The U.S. State Department advised U.S. citizens to avoid the area.
