Hope Solo suspended from US women's soccer team for six months, contract terminated

US Soccer suspended goalkeeper Hope Solo for six months on Wednesday night for her "bunch of cowards" comment aimed at Sweden after the United States was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games in Rio.

"The comments by Hope Solo after the match against Sweden during the 2016 Olympics were unacceptable and do not meet the standard of conduct we require from our national team players," U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati said in a statement.
