French towns ban 'Burkini' swimsuits after religious tensions run high


A controversial fashion trend has been banned from some beaches in France.

The full-body swimsuit dubbed the "burkini" is popular with many Muslim women, who want to stay modest but still enjoy the ocean.

There's been many clashes between beach town residents and Muslim bathers this summer.

Some towns such as Cannes, Villeneuve-Loubet and Corsican have banned the burkini, looking to calm religious tensions and they say, protect muslims themselves.
