Celebrity breakups can become next-level notorious when they're sparked by a cheating scandal.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse James and Billy Crudup are among the stars associated with infidelity, but, as the saying goes, it takes two to tango.

Billy Crudup had been dating Mary-Louise Parker for eight years when he left the seven-months-pregnant "Weeds" star for "Homeland" star Claire Danes. Crudup and Danes dated from 2003-06.

"I just was in love with him, and needed to explore that, and was 24," Danes told Howard Stern in October 2015. "[I] didn't quite know what those consequences might be."

Soon after winning the 2010 Academy Award for Best Actress, Sandra Bullock's celebration was tainted by reports that husband Jesse James had been unfaithful. Tattoo artist Michelle "Bombshell" McGee fessed up to being a mistress, and made public apologies to Bullock.

James, too, apologized. "There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me," he said in a statement. "It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way."

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were one of Hollywood's most A-list couples when they married in 2000. In 2005, Pitt divorced Aniston and started dating his "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" co-star Angelina Jolie amid reports the Jolie relationship overlapped with his marriage to Aniston.

In a 2015 Hollywood Reporter interview, Aniston appeared to let bygones be bygones. "Nobody did anything wrong. You know what I mean?" she said of her relationship with Pitt, who married Jolie in 2014. "It was just like, sometimes things [happen]."

Married in 1999, "Cruel Intentions" co-stars Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon split in 2007, as infidelity rumors swirled around Phillippe. He later defended his relationship with "Stop-Loss" co-star Abbie Cornish.

"[Things] are never as simple as it's made out to be in the tabloid press," Phillippe told W Magazine in March 2008. "It was unfair for her to be called the names that she was, because it wasn't about that. ... I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her." Phillippe and Cornish split in 2011.

In 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver ended their marriage of 25 years after it was revealed that the actor in the 1990s had fathered a son, with the couple's housekeeper, Mildred Baena.

"I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family," Schwarzenegger said in a May 2011 statement issued to The Los Angeles Times. "There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."
