How the tides have changed.

Way back in 2006, a young Katie Ledecky met her swimming idol, a 21-year-old Michael Phelps. The two snapped a photo while he autographed a poster for her. That image has recently gone viral thanks to both of their swimming successes at the Rio Olympics.

A decade later, both athletes have become Olympic swimming icons.

And the photo, which was tweeted out by USA Swimming, has garnered lots of buzz, racking up over 1K shares. What's funny about the new picture is that the two elite swimmers have swapped roles -- now Ledecky is signing her autograph for Phelps.

Since the 2012 London Olympics, Ledecky has worked to cement her standing among the world's top swimmers, smashing every record in sight.

"Katie's doing her thing and she's breaking records every time she gets in the pool. It's been an honor for me to be a part of the team with her," Phelps told the Today Show.

For her part, Ledecky says she's "happy to bring home some medals and memories."
