Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, police are now being trained to fly drones. They intend to use this technology to not only fight crime and catch bad guys, but also to check infrastructure and ensure safety during town events.
Although drones enable police to save time making critical decisions in dangerous situations, some citizens say that their use is an invasion of privacy. When the FAA approved Seattle PD to use drones for surveillance, protesters made it clear that they're willing to put up a fight.
The FBI recently released 36 hours of drone footage from the Freddie Gray protests in Baltimore. The police said they used the drones to monitor large crowds and search for potential violence and riots.
