Despite populist challenger Paul Nehlen gaining momentum after Donald Trump praised him last week, House Speaker Paul Ryan won the primary election to keep his Wisconsin congressional seat.
Here's his victory speech.
The race gained national attention after Trump was slow to endorse Ryan, recalling Ryan's similarly reluctant endorsement of Trump in the spring.
Nehlen seemed like a long shot -- early polling showed Ryan with 80 percent support, CNN reports.
But Nehlen had initially secured support from Trump. He shares similar views on immigration and seemed open to deporting Muslims, according to The Washington Post.
A campaign ad posted on YouTube turned heads.
Nehlen later earned Trump's praise on Twitter.
Nehlen even showed up to a Trump rally in Green Bay on Friday, but he was later kicked out after Trump announced his endorsement of Ryan at that same rally.
