A Michigan man is facing a felony drug-trafficking charge after authorities say two dozen concertgoers in northeast Ohio became ill from eating THC-laced candies at a rap music festival. THC is a psychoactive compound found in marijuana.
Matthew Lee Gross, 28, is being held in jail, the Richland County Sheriff's Office told ABC News.
Authorities said someone at "The Last Weekend on Earth" concert began tossing out bags of colorful candies labeled "prescribed medibles" around 11 a.m. Saturday.
"There were about 20 pieces in each one," Maj. Joe Masi of the Richland County Sheriff's Department told the Mansfield News Journal. "Each had a very, very high dose of THC."
Masi added that only one or two pieces of the candy would get someone high, but some people were eating the entire package.
Twenty-four people were treated at OhioHealth, which is located in Mansfield, Ohio.
