Trump jumped on Clinton's claim that she 'short-circuited'

John Kasich fell short in his bid for the Republican nomination for president.

But a New York Times article in July made waves, suggesting Kasich had been offered the vice presidency despite  his public criticism of Donald Trump.

In a CNN interview that aired Sunday, Kasich confirmed he'd been offered the job.

However, it wasn't Trump who made the call to Kasich, but his son, Donald Trump Jr. And he wasn't told directly, but one of his aides was.

The deal would have put Kasich in charge of foreign and domestic policy, leaving Trump Sr. to "make America great again."

That would have been a far more influential role than most, if not all, vice presidents in U.S history.

Kasich said he "never considered it."

Kasich did not say if he planned on voting for Trump in this election, but he insisted he would not vote for Hillary Clinton.
