No one likes pesky computer pop-ups. But if you've been ignoring the ones asking you to update to Windows 10, you're going to want to listen up.
Friday, July 29, is the final day Microsoft will grant free upgrades to Windows 10. So, understand that if you shoo that "time to upgrade" notification away on this day, you'll be stuck paying $119 if you ever want to move up to Windows 10 down the road.
WINDOWS 10: FREE ON JULY 29, $119 ON JULY 30
We know, you've probably been putting off that research you were going to do before deciding whether or not to upgrade your machine to Windows 10. (After all, it wasn't that long ago we were burned by Windows 8.) But, since you're essentially out of time for measured choice-making, here's some free advice: Upgrade today.
With the exception of some specialized hardware situations, there's no good reason not to upgrade to Window 10.
This version of Windows is the best of Windows 7 merged with the handful of positive elements from Windows 8. And your Windows 7 and Windows 8 files and settings will navigate over in the upgrade. So long as your PC meets the requirements spelled out on Microsoft's Windows 10 Specifications page, you should go ahead with Windows 10 -- and today, so that you can get it for free (of course).
