The IRS is poking Facebook for billions in taxes


Facebook could owe Uncle Sam up to $5 billion, the social media giant disclosed on Thursday.

The IRS is investigating the way the social media giant moved its international headquarters to Ireland to avoid higher US taxes.

Now, according to a Facebook filing, the tax penalty could total up to 5 billion dollars plus interest.

The IRS tax penalty could total $3 billion to $5 billion, plus interest, according to a Facebook filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
